What to wear to Pride: outfit ideas for gay guys
From a simple rainbow tee to a full harness look: Pride outfit ideas, and what to bring for a long day out.
Pride is a party, a protest and the one day a year you can wear exactly what you want and get cheered for it. Whether you keep it simple or go all out, here are outfit ideas that work, plus what to pack for a long day on the street.
Easy and comfortable
- A pride tee or tank with something to say: “Sounds Gay I’m In”, “Yes Homo” or “Make America Gay Again”.
- Rainbow shorts or sports shorts.
- Pride socks and sneakers you can walk in all day.
- A cap for the sun.
Turn it up
- An elastic harness over a mesh crop top.
- A jockstrap under your shorts, for when the shorts come off.
- Swim trunks, if there’s a pool party after.
- Rainbow jewellery: a necklace, bracelets or pins.
Fly your flag
A flag doubles as a cape, a picnic blanket and a way to find your friends in the crowd. The rainbow and Progress Pride flags are the classics; the MLM (men loving men) flag and Gilbert Baker’s original 8-colour flag say a little more about you. Our pride flag guide explains what each one means.
What to pack
- Sunscreen and water: parades mean hours in the sun.
- A phone battery pack, and a plan for finding your friends.
- Comfortable shoes, even if you change later.
- ID, a card and some cash.
- A light layer for the evening.
Tip: Planning a group look? Order two to three weeks before the event and check the delivery estimate on each product page.
